We have officially reached day 13 and the half way point of our ongoing A to Z series, so today we're dedicating the letter M to our current longest serving player and highly regarded goalkeeper, Cam Mason.
Mason made the switch to the Tameside Stadium in July 2014 and has gone on to become somewhat of a Nash legend, establishing himself as the club's number one on the pitch, and popular with supporters off of it.
The 24 year-old spent his early days as a youth player at Oldham Athletic, and a year prior to joining the Nash, was with Chesterfield as of July 2013. During his year at the Proact Stadium he enjoyed a two-month long loan spell with Southport, prior to joining the Nash on a free transfer.
Following the departure of former keeper Hakan Burton, Mason made the number one shirt his own, and has proven his worth not only by clocking up over 150 appearances between the sticks, but by becoming the first player to recieve an England C call up, while on the club's books. Mason has been hailed for his impressive performances within the non-league game and has very much become a fan favourite. The Nash shot stopper even spent time with Jamie Vardy's V9 Academy, having been recognised by the organisation in May 2018.
Recently named Manager's Player of the Season in the club's virtual end of seasons awards, Mason will be hoping to get a second chance for an England C debut once football returns, after his initial opportunity was squandered by a global pandemic.
