There were few people more deserving of the letter R than our all-time leading goalscorer Rod Lawton.
Lawton scored 376 goals during his time at the club, and during the 1960's established a prolific striking partnership with Micky Haughton.
While with the club, Lawton won the league title twice and finished runners-up once in the club's first three seasons in the Manchester Amateur League. His performances, coupled with an unrivalled goalscoring return helped the club take a step forward, moving up into the Manchester League, where in 1977-78 they would complete the league and cup double.
Lawton remains a club legend and was a pioneer of the club's early successes shortly after our formation.
Unfortunately, information and images of Lawton online are extremely limited, which is a great shame as we would loved to have celebrated one of our greatest players in a more visual manner. Either way, the name Rod Lawton will always stand proud in Curzon's history books.
Make sure to come back to our official website tomorrow to see who or what we are giving the letter S to!
