Glyn was a founder member of the club. In 1963 Curzon Road FC and Assheton Amateurs amalgamated to become Curzon Amateurs later to become Curzon Ashton.
Glyn played in the new clubs first game against Mossley Amateurs.
Glyn’s highlight as a player was scoring four goals against Shell Carrington in the 1965/1966 season.
After he finished playing he devoted himself to developing the club.
When we secured our old ground at National Park Glyn for many years helped to build up the facilities.
His forward thinking was to develop a 5 a side artificial carpet pitch with floodlights and we were the envy of others as we had our own floodlit training pitch.
Glyn was also responsible for lots of social events in the clubhouse who can forget the magical CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZAS that he produced with great professionalism.
When we moved to Tameside Stadium Glyn was down lots of times in the week watching its construction and when we moved in he was in his element in advising us how to develop and make full use of the facilities.
I could go on and on about his contribution to our club he did a tremendous amount.
When Glyn had a project to do he gave it total commitment and enthusiasm.
Many times my phone would ring at 7-30 in the morning “H its Glyn this is what I think we should do”
Glyn will be sadly missed by all his friends none more so than myself as he inspired me to do many of the things attributed to me at Curzon
GLYN was a true Curzon Person and we will always remember him.
