Curzon Ashton are back in action this Saturday, as they travel north to face Darlington at Blackwell Meadows.
Both sides have had an extra week rest with all of last week’s Vanarama National League North games falling victim to the weather.
The week prior was one to forget for the Nash as John Flanagan and his side were beaten 3-1 away at Southport. Despite Curzon opening the scoring through Matt Regan early on, two goals before the break and one in second half stoppage time gave Port the win and sent Flanagan and his side back to the Tameside Stadium pointless.
Darlington however picked up a win last time out, as they recorded a 2-1 home victory over play off-pushing Kidderminster Harriers.
Despite the defeat on the seaside, the Nash have been in much improved form recently, picking up seven points out of a possible nine prior to the loss to Southport. This included impressive wins over York City and AFC Telford United.
The hosts have also been in a rich vein of form recently picking up four wins from their last five games.
Just two points and three places separates the two teams in the table with Curzon in 17th on 37 points and Darlington in 14th on 39. The Nash also have a game in hand on Saturday’s opponents.
Last time we met…
The last time the two sides locked horns resulted in victory for John Flanagan and his side, as the Nash recorded a 1-0 win at the Tameside Stadium back in September.
It was Curzon youngster, Tyrell McKenzie who was the difference as his wonderfully curled effort from the edge of the box with three minutes left proved to be the winner, snatching a late, and important three points for the Nash.
Ahead of the game right back, James Baillie said he was ‘confident’ heading into Saturday’s clash.
Baillie said: “We’re confident, we always seem to do quite well against stronger teams, even though they are not having as great a season as they normally do, but yep we are confident.
