Curzon Ashton take on Farsley Celtic as they look to capitalize on a strong start to the season.
This is why we love football. After what looked like a disappointing away loss to Brackley town last Saturday with seventy-five minutes gone and the score sat at 2-0, it looked all but settled. Until, Curzon were awarded a penalty. 2-1. Eighty-six minutes gone; Curzon are awarded yet another penalty. You know what happened next. And if not, I have no problem in saying it again. 2-2! From the jaws of defeat The Nash managed to scavage a point away from home against one of the strongest teams in the league. An incredible example of the identification and philosophy that Cunningham is embedding onto this crop of players. Tenacity, Belief, confidence, the never say die attitude and rugged approach that is so crucial for Curzon if this is going to be a successful season.
This Saturday sees Farsley Celtic travel to the Tameside to take on Curzon. Farsley Celtic are yet to win a game this campaign with an opening day defeat to Spennymoor Town. Followed by a 1-1 draw at home to York City. They did defeat Radcliffe Borough in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup but were soon on the end of a 3-1 defeat to Fylde just ten days later in the third round.
Farsley last season were a hard playing, strong, consistent mid table team. With fourteen wins and fourteen losses, Farsley were always a hard competitor for any side in the league. In Curzon’s two meetings with Farsley last season Curzon lost 2-1 on match week 12 before bouncing back with a huge 4-0 win at the Tameside. One of The Nash’s performances of the season.
Despite two positive performances for Curzon however, they are still yet to acquire all three points from a game, sitting on two draws from two. A win against Farsley on Saturday will be confirmation that Curzon are a real threat for the year ahead and Cunningham’s men mean business.
