Tribute to Ronnie Capstick who sadly passed away this month.
Ronnie was with the Club from the beginning, in 1963, but was also a member of the Curzon Road team that in ’63 joined up with Assheton Amateurs to eventually form Curzon Ashton.
Ronnie was a no-nonsense who caught the eye of Manchester United and he had a spell with them before re-joining Curzon and help them to great success in the Manchester Amateur League.
Following his retirement from playing, he took up the post of 2nd Team Manager and led the team to success in the Manchester League before then having a spell as 1st Team Manager. He then went on to join the Club Committee, holding the position of Vice-Chairman for many years.
He was a much respected and loved character at the Club and will be classed as one of the Club Legends. He will be greatly missed by all of us, none more than myself having been friends for over 60 years.
