Match Preview by Leon Higgins

After Saturday’s abandonment at half time & results from other games, Curzon drop to 5th in the Vanarama National League North.

With two games in hand on the top two clubs, Chorley and Scunthorpe United who both sit on 32 points from 18 games, Craig Mahon’s side know victories are crucial to keep up with both sides.

Southport themselves have had a steady start to the season sitting in 13th place in the league table and currently four points off Alfreton in the play-off spot.

Last time out the Sandgrounders suffered late disappointment away at King’s Lynn Town, conceding an 81st minute goal, courtesy of a penalty.

The last meeting between the two sides came back in September at Haig Avenue in the FA Cup 3rd qualifying round, where Isaac Buckley Ricketts’ goal in the 82nd minute was enough for Curzon to progress to the final qualifying round.
