What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Ben Blease, and I’m from Hurst Cross, Ashton-under-Lyne.
What is your position at the club?
I’m a Physiotherapy Assistant, currently studying Physiotherapy at Manchester Metropolitan University. I’m about to enter my final year.
How did you become interested in physiotherapy?
I previously worked in construction and unfortunately had a serious accident. The physiotherapists who supported my recovery were outstanding, and that experience sparked my interest in the field.
What inspired you to join Curzon?
I used to play for Curzon and had a great experience with the club. My son also played here, and I have friends and family connected to Curzon. It felt natural to reach out and see if I could contribute while gaining valuable experience.
What’s your role as a physiotherapy assistant?
My role is to support Lucia and the medical team as much as possible, assist the players with any concerns, and be proactive in learning through hands-on experience.
How does your role help support the players during training and matches?
We help prepare the players physically and mentally, ensuring they are ready to perform. If injuries occur, we support their rehabilitation and work towards getting them back to full fitness.
What do you enjoy doing outside of football?
I still play football with Denton Town Vets, which I really enjoy. I’m also a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and enjoy training and competing—although my son tends to get the better of me these days!
What football team do you support?
I’m a Manchester United supporter.
What’s your proudest moment in your physio journey so far?
Gaining a place on the physiotherapy degree course has definitely been a proud moment for me. I didn’t think it was possible at this stage of my life, so it’s been a huge achievement.
What are you most excited about this season with the team?
I’m most excited about getting to know the players and staff, becoming a valued member of the team, and continuing to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment.
Welcome to Curzon Ashton, Ben.
