Having started his coaching journey 17 years ago at Leyton Orient FC Steve has since gained two degrees, one in Sport and Clinical Biomechanics and the other in Sport and Exercise Science.

He has undertaken a variety of roles at numerous clubs including Everton, Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End before taking up the role as Manager of Radcliffe FC Women’s Team last season. Steve has a proven track record for improving players and pushing them along the way and we are delighted to have Steve on board as we embark on this new and exciting journey regarding the integration of Curzon Ashton Women into the club structure.

Speaking on the appointment new head coach, Luke Ogilvie said:

We are pleased to have Steve join the team, his experience in football and particularly women’s football will prove invaluable. Already he has integrated himself well into the group and we look forward to working together throughout the course of the season.

Steve commented:

I’m delighted to have been appointed First Team Coach at Curzon Ashton, I’m looking forward to being a part of such a great team and set-up, and I will do everything I can to support Luke and Curzon Ashton in progressing the women’s team to the next level.

Curzon Ashton’s proud history and strong community values were a major factor in my decision to join the club. The commitment to development both on and off the pitch, and the club’s inclusive and ambitious ethos, really resonated with me. It’s a club with a clear identity and a real sense of purpose, which I’m excited to now be a part of. Which is shown in their most recent decision to incorporate the women’s side into the club.

The players have shown excellent attitude and commitment during pre-season, reinforcing that my decision to join this fantastic club — and work with Luke, Dean, Lauren, and Ruairi — was the right one as we pursue our shared vision for Curzon Ashton Women.

Everyone at Curzon Ashton would like to welcome Steve and wish him, Luke and the rest of the team the best of luck for the forthcoming season.

The women begin their 25/26 season campaign this weekend in their inaugural fixture at the Tameside Stadium when they host Crewe Alexandra Women, kick-off is at 2pm and admission is priced at £3 or free for U12 and Curzon Ashton season ticket holders.
