Match Report by Joel Longworth

A goal from Jack Stobbs cancelled out Connor Woods’ penalty.

Within the first minute of the referee blowing his whistle The Nash had their first potential chance when Curzon number 8 Alex Curran was in behind down the right hand side with his cut back cross being intercepted by the Chester defence.

10 minutes in, Chester had their first chance of the game coming from new signing Pat Jones who cut inside from the left hand side with his cross being claimed by Hawkins.

After an end-to-end opening 15 minutes, the game was even with both Curzon and Chester looking for the opener.

Just after the 25 minute mark, Alex Curran had the ball and drove towards Chester’s goal as his long range effort from outside of the box went just wide of the near post, five minutes later Chester defender Jack Bainbridge flicked the ball into the air and his volley bounced off the bar.

With 10 minutes to go until half time, both teams were still pushing for the opening goal.

In the 37th minute, the referee awarded Chester a penalty as Chris Stokes brought down Fin Roberts inside the box – Connor Woods stepped up and placed his penalty into the middle of the goal.

This brought an end to the first half with The Nash having work to do in the second half.

HT 1-0

Head coach Mark Bradshaw made one substitution at half time, with Jordan Richards replacing Timi Sobowale.

The second half got underway with The Nash starting brilliantly and with only 49 minutes on the clock The Nash got their equaliser.

Alex Curran played the ball over the top for Jack Stobbs whose chipped effort went over the goalkeeper, hit the post and went in to equalise for The Nash!

Just after the hour mark, Curzon had the chance to go in front as Curran drove forward passing the ball to Crispin as he cut inside with his shot being saved by Wogan.

On the 67th minute Mark Bradshaw made his second substitution of the game with Curzon number 10 Tony Weston coming on in place of Crispin McLean.

With 15 minutes left of the game, The Nash were pushing for a winner. Chris Stokes played the ball in behind as Tony Weston ran onto it, he brought it down and took a shot at goal, however the shot went over the bar.

10 minutes remaining Curzon made their third substitution with goalscorer Jack Stobbs making way for Charlie Weston.

Two more changes came in the final five minutes, first with Curzon number 8 Alex Curran making way for Joe Rowel-Grant and then defender Chris Stokes being replaced by Ben Connolly four minutes later, in the third minute of added time.

Neither side was able to find the winning goal with the final score ending 1-1 and Curzon going unbeaten for their third successive game.

The Nash will look to get their first win of the season on Saturday as they host newly promoted Merthyr Town at The Tameside Stadium.
