Match Preview by Leon Higgins

Curzon Ashton begin the road to Wembley at the second qualifying round, taking a break from league action.

The Nash have had a proud recent record in the FA Cup reaching the first round in the last three seasons. Last season’s defeat to Mansfield before losing to Barnet in the 2023 and a agonising penalty defeat to Cambridge in 2022 have marked a proud record the last three seasons.

But yet a record run in the oldest competition in football came in 2008 as a Northern Premier League side losing to Kidderminster 2-0 after a famous 3-2 win over League Two champions that season Exeter City with the late great Curzon legend Gary Lowe the manager.

Another run to the second round came in 2016, with a agonising added time defeat to AFC Wimbledon.

Hebburn Town have played one game so far in the FA Cup, a 1-0 victory over Longridge Town in the first qualifying round after a first half goal from Olly Martin. The Hornets best FA Cup performance came in 2011, reaching the fourth qualifying round who were step 10 at the time and the lowest ranked team left in the competition but just fell short of reaching the proper rounds after a 3-0 defeat to Gateshead.

In the Northern Premier League Premier Division, Hebburn sit in 16th place after 7 games on 8 points. This month The Hornets have played two games which have both ended in draws with a 1-1 draw at Morpeth Town last time out after a 3-3 draw at home to Hyde United.

Head to Head:

This will be the first ever meeting between the sides.

Management Preview:

Head coach Mark Bradshaw shared his thoughts ahead of our FA Cup fixture:

We always look forward to the FA Cup and it was very much in my mind (reflecting on Saturday’s game).

We’ve got a week to prepare, we’ve got to prepare properly, we’ve got to be ready for that challenge and make sure sure we put on a performance at home that warrants the team that is a league above.

It is very easy to ease off and think you are just going to turn up and win and we can’t allow that to happen and that’s the big challenge.

Happy Hour:

Ahead of Saturday afternoon’s fa cup fixture the Nash Bar within the stadium will be open from twelve o’clock and will be holding a ‘happy hour’ between 12-2pm with all pints of lager and cider available for £4.

The bar will be showing the Premier League early ko – Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest.

All fans welcome!
