A double from Tony Weston and Adam Barton was enough to see The Nash advance into the next round.


The Nash started the game brightly as in the fifth minute Curzon won a penalty and Tony Weston stepped up and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner – Curzon 1 -0 Hebburn.

Five minutes later Curzon thought they had another early chance as Brad Holmes was in behind the Hebburn defence however he was flagged offside.

On the 20th minute mark, The Nash had the chance to double their lead as Jack Stobbs cut inside, crossed the ball into the box finding Charlie Weston whose flicked header went just wide of the post.

Approaching the halfway point of the first half Hebburn had two chances to get back into the game as Jack Foalle and Ethan Woods shots from outside the box were comfortably saved by Hawkins.

On the half hour mark, The Nash doubled their lead through Adam Barton. The ball fell to Adam on the edge of the box as his first time volley from outside of the box went into the top right corner.

Curzon had a chance to score their third in the 37th minute as Brad Holmes played the ball in behind Hebburn’s defence and found the captain Jimmy Spencer, whose outside the foot shot went wide – however he was flagged offside.

The referee indicated a minimum of 5 minutes of added time.

In the first minute of added time, Hebburn pulled a goal back through Gary Martin to make the score 2-1 heading into the break, however, Curzon quickly reacted as Adam Barton scored the Nash’s third and his second of the game, his shot from the edge of the box went in off the crossbar, ensuring The Nash maintained their two goal cushion as the half-time whistle blew.

The second half began with The Nash creating more chances as goalscorer Tony Weston played the ball across the box finding Brad Holmes whose shot was blocked. Brad was involved again in the 53rd minute as Charlie Weston played Brad in behind with his shot once again being blocked.

In the 66th minute, Curzon had their fourth and Tony Weston had his second of the afternoon. Jimmy Spencer played a great ball through to Tony who slotted the ball through the keeper’s legs however he collided with the goalpost in the process and that proved to be his last involvement of the afternoon as Mark Bradshaw made a double change in the 67th minute, bringing on Joe Rodwell-Grant and Jack Stafford for Tony Weston and Jimmy Spencer.

In the 78th minute, Hebburn had a penalty conceded by Callum Hawkins, Matthew Elison stepped up for Hebburn with Hawkins saving the penalty to keep the score 4-1.

Into the remaining ten minutes of normal time Bradshaw made his final two substitutions of the afternoon, the first saw double goalscorer Adam Barton replaced by youngster Harry Olufowobi followed by Ben Connolly coming on to replace Jack Stobbs.

The referee awarded 6 minutes of added time at the end of the game and just two minutes in substitute Joe Rodwell-Grant had the chance to get Curzon’s fifth as his shot was blocked.

The game ended with The Nash winning 4-1 and advancing into the third qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Up next for The Nash is a return to league action next Saturday when they host South Shields at The Tameside Stadium. The Nash will look to extend their 3 game unbeaten run.
