Cambridge:
A trip to the Abbey Stadium in 2022 proved heartbreak for Adam Lakeland’s side after going out of the FA Cup to League One Cambridge in the first round after a replay. Finishing 0-0 after extra time, Joe Ironside, Jack Lankester, Harvey Knibbs and Paul Digby all found the target from 12 yards while Josh Hancock fired Curzon’s first spot-kick over the bar and before the Nash hopes were ended when Cambridge goalkeeper Will Mannion saved from Connor Dimaio.
Exeter:
Undoubtably one of the best results in the history of Curzon Ashton was when they beat EFL League Two side Exeter City 3-2 – read more about that memorable day in yesterday’s article (click here)
FC United of Manchester:
A five goal thriller saw Curzon win 3-2 at United of Manchester at Broadhurst Park. Current Nash player Joe Rodwell Grant scored for United of Manchester but ultimately goals from Will Hayhurst, Tom Peers and Jordan Richards were enough to send Curzon through in this Classic FA Cup thriller.
Westfield:
Following the win over York, Curzon played Westfields in the first round. Ninth-tier Westfields, who were the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, held The Nash in the initial staging in Herefordshire 1-1. In the restaging, Curzon won 3-1 after a double from Adam Morgan and a goal from Niall Cummins. The Nash would return to the second round for only the second time to play AFC Wimbledon.
York City:
After a 1-1 draw at Bootham Crescent, Curzon won the replay 2-1 at the Tameside Stadium after coming from behind. It was only the second time in Curzon Ashton’s history that they had made it to the first round where they would go on to face Westfield who were the lowest team left in the competition going into the first round.
There is still time to join us on our FA Cup campaign, as we head to the Deva Stadium to face Chester FC in the Third Round Qualifying of the FA Cup tomorrow.
