Curzon make the trip to King’s Lynn and The Links on Saturday 7th September after a spirited performance against the league leaders Scunthorpe on Tuesday night, but ultimately ending up losing 1-0.

The Nash

Curzon will take a number of positives from the match, but just couldn’t find that sharp edge to cut through The Iron. They will be hoping that lady luck is on their side heading into this game against equal on points and goal difference, King’s Lynn Town (3rd in the table) and will also be up against familiar faces in previous manager Adam Lakeland and his assistant, Curzon “legend” Sam Walker.

The Nash once again looked defensively solid for long periods on Tuesday, however, need to convert their chances if they are to maintain their good start to the season and keep the pressure on those around them. The Nash boss Craig Mahon speaking post game said “It hurts to lose, especially when I felt we deserved something from the game but there is not much more we could have done besides that little bit of end quality in front of the net”. They head into this one 4th in the table and on 13 points.

King’s Lynn
Much like The Nash, King’s Lynn (The Linnets) will be hoping to return to winning form after a goalless draw away at Scarborough on Tuesday night. Their form is very similar to the Nash with 2 from 3 wins at home, however a disappointing defeat to one of the relegation favourites Peterborough Sports thrown in there most recently.

After a disappointing season for The Linnets in 23/24, which saw ex Curzon boss (Adam Lakeland) make the switch south nearly a year ago, swift progression was hoped for and likely expected. However Lakeland could only lead the side to an 18th place finish and just 5 points clear of relegation so the pressure firmly remains on his shoulders.
The club made a number of personnel changes in the summer of 2024, including bringing back leading goal scorer in their 22/23 season, Gold Omotayo, and have recently also brought in Finlay Barnes from Braintree Town.

Recent Meetings

Earlier in 2024, Curzon departed The Links, kings of the town, with all three points after a 4-0 battering, with goals from Stefan Mols (2), Adam Barton and Jimmy Spencer – all players that Lakeland had brought to the Nash in his time at the club.
This should be another close game, with both teams firmly in the playoff positions heading into September. The traveling Nash faithful hoping to make a small update to the song “Down in Kings Lynn on a *Tuesday* night, Jimmy Spencer put us out of sight….”
