The Nash
The Nash made light work of lower league opposition (Barnoldswick Town) in the previous round running out 6-0 victors, however they will have been disappointed to not follow that up with victory in the league last Saturday.
The Nash managed a late equaliser from Adam Barton meaning they left the Tameside (After a difficult week off the pitch) with a point against Peterborough Sports despite missing a number of good chances to take 3 points.
The dangerous front 3 of Jimmy Spencer, Stefan Mols and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts will be hoping they are more clinical in the cup.
Southport
Southport (The Sandgrounders) defeated Hyde FC 2-1 to make it to this stage of the competition, a late goal from Danny Lloyd confirming the victory.
In the league, Southport find themselves in 18th place, with 2 wins from 5 at home and look, at the moment, to be heading for another season around mid-table after a what can be considered a slow start. They are also yet to keep a clean sheet in a game so far this season, something that The Nash will be hoping continues in this fixture.
Last season in the league, they were Curzon’s opponents over the Christmas/New Year fixtures, with Curzon taking 6 points and scoring 6 goals against a Sandgrounders defence that included familiar faces to the Curzon ranks in Harry Flowers and Chris Renshaw.
Here’s hoping we continue another classic Nash cup run.
