Curzon Ashton Women have previously operated as a separate entity which saw them associated with the club by name only, this current restructure as touched upon by Chairman John Clayton in his most recent update will see Curzon Ashton Women be formally incorporated into the senior ‘Curzon Ashton Family’, which will see the men’s first team, the women’s first team and the newly formed reserves team operate as one.
Women’s Head Coach Dean O’Brien commented on the news:
Following a successful year last year, finishing on a high by winning the League Plate we aim to continue and build on that form this season. The integration of the senior teams is a massive step in the right direction and we are all excited about it.
Preparations are now well underway for the new season and a number of changes have already been made, most notably the recent departure of our First Team Manager – of which we are currently in the process of recruiting and information on how to apply for the role is available here.
Away from the pitch, the club will now take full control of the team and we will therefore have the resources and facilities needed to operate inline with the men’s first team, these changes will see us play on the pitch at the Tameside Stadium from the 25/26 season as well as being incorporated in any sponsorship/partnership deals, one of which will see us wear the same kit as the men’s first team for the upcoming season.
Speaking on the changes, Chairman John Clayton said:
Away from the menβs first team we are delighted to announce a restructure of senior teams with the creation of a Reserves team and the return to the Tameside stadium main pitch for the Curzon Ashton Womenβs team, it is hoped that both teams will have a major role to play within the βCurzon familyβ over the coming seasons.
