Stewart White (player) & Simon Atherford (manager) both represented England over 70s walking football in Swansea last month.
The over 70s (whites) won all three games keeping three clean sheets in the process ultimately seeing them lift the trophy at the end of the weekend.
Stewart White, Curzon Ashton & England Walking Footballer said:
My connection to Curzon Ashton started back in the 80s when I coached the junior team, we then became the youth team, competing in the FA Youth Cup before eventually forming a Reserve Team where I was player/manager.
In 2016 I joined the Curzon Ashton Walking Football team, it was an opportunity to be back involved with the club and reunite with some old friends.
In March this year Simon invited me to a trial day for the England Walking Football Team, following the trial they offered me the opportunity to join the team of which I accepted. I started training with the England team in May and this tournament in Swansea was my first competitive debut making three appearances, keeping three clean sheets and scoring two goals.
The weekend was a really enjoyable experience and one that I hope continues.
The team are back in action in August when they travel once again to Wales to take part in the Neath International Tournament.
