With 20 years of coaching experience ranging from youth development & grassroots football to international football & the professional game, most notably as a coach at Bolton Wanderers and Liverpool and the Women’s Reserves Team Manager at Manchester City, Luke joins Curzon Ashton Women ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 season.
Upon joining The Nash, Luke commented:
I’m delighted to be appointed into the role of Women’s Head Coach at Curzon Ashton, especially at such a pivotal time. For the first time, the women’s team has been formally incorporated into the Curzon Ashton Family, marking a significant milestone for the team and club.
It’s an honour to represent a club with such deep-seated roots in football. As you enter the ground, it’s impossible to miss the World Cup Hero statue, a testament to the local footballing heritage. The women’s team itself has always been a pioneer in women’s football within the area, boasting an impressive legacy that I, along with the entire group, aspire to build upon.
We’ve assembled a fantastic squad, featuring a great mixture of experienced players and exciting young talent, all eager to showcase their abilities in the coming weeks. Our focus is now squarely on preparing the players through the remaining preseason fixtures, thoroughly assessing a number of trialists, and solidifying our ideas for the upcoming season, which kicks off on August 17th. I’m delighted to be working alongside Dean, Lauren, and the coaching team. We’re all incredibly excited for what’s ahead.
Speaking on the appointment, Dean O’Brien, Women’s Team General Manager said:
After my initial chat with Luke it was clear he was the right person for the role as Head Coach. With his extensive coaching experience over the years he brings a wealth of knowledge that he wants to share with the players.
He was impressed with the clubs vision and the steps they are continually making to improve. Making it a perfect fit for both. Luke has already started his project with us and added a couple of new signings to the group. We are looking forward to seeing this project progress with Luke at the helm.
Everyone at Curzon Ashton is delighted to welcome Luke to the club.
