Curzon Ashton Historian and stats man – Gary (Dredz) Weston

I have so many fantastic memories of the FA Cup, all the way back to being 10 years old and my uncle taking me to see Mossley in the 1st round. Also during my time watching Oldham make it to the semi-final, losing to Manchester United both times.
My favourites for Curzon are that victory against Exeter, the main part of the day was trying to get my boy of the pitch when the final whistle went! What a celebration that was! The whole FA Cup run that got us to the Wimbledon game was also incredible and a great memory.
Even recently I enjoyed beating FC United of Manchester away, we’d never won their before so to do it in the FA Cup was brilliant!

My favourite memory was as a player for Blackpool when we played against QPR who were then in the, what is now Premier League. I was 18 and the winner of the game would get Liverpool in the next round at Anfield.
We were superb and managed to take them to 2 replays (Yes 2 replays!) but lost in the 2nd replay in extra time. I had the pleasure of playing against England legend Ray Wilkins for all 3 games and I still have the picture of myself and Ray that was on the back page of the Daily Mirror.
