Match Preview by Leon Higgins

Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at the Tameside stadium to Merthyr on the sides first ever meeting condemned Curzon to a first defeat of the season.

Buxton have started their first season as a professional team with two loses and two wins. Loses against Marine and Hereford combined with an opening day home win against Marine followed by a victory at Telford on Saturday sees The Bucks currently in 10th place. Conor Kirby made it into the National League North GW1 team of the week after his winner.

The summer transfer window has seen Buxton strengthen with plenty of signings. George Ward from Leamington and Tate Campbell alongside Sam Robinson from Hereford all process National League North experience. Other signings have included Callum Eubanks from Stratford Town, former England U17 international Joe Young from Shrewsbury, Bermuda international Deniche Hill from Leicester, Max Bardell from Derby, Ryan McLean from Wimbledon and Tai Sodje from Man City who has two Premier League 2 and U18 Premier League titles to his name.

Head to Head

There have been 8 matches between the sides, two draws, and victory on three occasions for either side.

The last meeting between the two sides was back in February with The Nash coming away with all three points thanks to an Isaac Buckley-Ricketts goal.

Management Preview:

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium, head coach Mark Bradshaw commented.

Looking ahead to Buxton on Monday, it will be another tough game they are a full-time team with an massive budget and we’re not in the same position as them.

We’ve got such a new group and we’ve got three senior players out so it take a bit of a toll, and we are asking these new players some of which are relatively inexperienced to step-up to the occasion.

Following Saturday’s 3-0 home defeat to Merthyr, captain Marcus Poscha also commented:

We showed them too much respect and we were too passive all over the pitch, but we’ve spoken about it, we know what we’ve done wrong and it’s about putting it right on Monday.

There’s no time to dwell on it (Saturday’s game), the management will watch the game back, the lads will watch it back as well and pick up little things, they know what they’ve done wrong.
