Match preview by Leon Higgins
Following Saturday’s defeat against Kings Lynn, Curzon travel to the Attis Arena in a crucial game in the race for promotion.
Following Saturday’s results Curzon sit 7th in the league table, 8 points off top of the league Chester with 3 games in hand and in the play off spot by virtue of goal difference to Buxton.
After missing out on promotion last season in the play off semi finals, losing to eventual winners and Lincolnshire rivals Boston United, Scunthorpe currently sit 2nd in the league, a point off Chester.
With two massive games involving the Top 6 sides that include Chester hosting Kidderminster and Chorley v Brackley this could be a decisive night in the race for automatic promotion.
The Irons have won 4 of their last 5 games with only a draw against Chorley before back-to-back 3-2 victories against Brackley and South Shields and two 2-0 wins against Needham Market and Warrington Town keeping their promotion chances well and truly alive.
Head to Head
There have been 3 meetings between the sides with only one being at Glanford Park which Curzon won 1-0 a year ago to this day.
The other 2 meetings have resulted in a 1-0 win for Curzon at the Tameside Stadium in the sides first ever clash in 2023, while the Irons won the reverse fixture 1-0 back in September.
