Match report by Joel Longworth

Goals from Brad Holmes and Captain Jimmy Spencer sealed the win for The Nash.

The opening 10 minutes of the game Curzon dominated possession and had the first chances of the game, the first came when Joel Amado attempted a ball over the top to McLean who failed to connect with it, followed by a Spencer effort 4 minutes later when new signing Chibuike Ezennolim drove into the box and found Spencer whose shot was saved by Urwin.

Chorley had their first chance of the game 10 minutes into the half as Samuel Bird got on the end of a corner with his looping header going over the bar.

With 21 minutes on the clock Crispin McLean went down the left hand side and tried to find Brad Holmes in the box unfortunately for the Curzon man the ball was intercepted, however, just two minutes later the ball found Holmes again who this time put The Nash 1-0 up – Callum Hawkins played the ball over the top of Chorley’s defence as Holmes ran onto it and stabbed his effort past Urwin in the Chorley goal.

As the half an hour mark approached Chorley began to push for an equaliser, midfielder Craig Hewitt cut inside onto his right foot with his shot being fantastically saved followed by a Jack Sampson header that was clawed away by Callum Hawkins.

An outstanding performance by Hawkins in the Curzon net denied Chorley going into the break level.

HT 1-0

The second half began with Chorley having the first chance as Luke Summerfield’s outside the box shot went over the bar however just after the hour mark, Curzon thought they had doubled their lead as captain Jimmy Spencer headed the ball into the net but he was adjudged to be offside.

25 minutes into the second half Mark Bradshaw made his first substitution of the evening as he brought on Jack Stobbs for new signing Chibuike Ezennolim.

On the 73rd minute Curzon had a chance to double their lead through Alex Curran as he drove forward, passing the ball to Jimmy Spencer who laid the ball off to Charlie Weston whose shot ended up in the car park.

With 15 minutes of normal time remaining Curzon doubled their lead through captain Jimmy Spencer. Ben Darby had his shot saved by Urwin in the Chorley net before the ball fell kindly to Spencer who followed up the rebound and smashed the ball into the back of the net.

Into the last 10 minutes of normal time, Bradshaw made another two changes to the team, the first, the introduction of Tony Weston on the 81st minute who came on to replace goalscorer Brad Holmes, followed by another substitution on the 87th minute as captain and goalscorer Jimmy Spencer came off for Joe Rodwell-Grant.

As the 90th minute approached the fourth official awarded 7 minutes of added time.

In the 90+4 and 90+7 minute Bradshaw made two more subs as Alex Curran and Crispin McLean came off for Ben Connolly and Harry Olufowobi.

As the game entered its last two minutes of stoppage time Curzon should have made it 3-0, Joe Rodwell-Grant had the first opportunity as he cut inside onto his right foot with his shot being saved by Urwin, followed moments later by Tony Weston who was released in behind Chorley’s defence with his heavy touch being collected by Urwin.

The full time whistle blew with The Nash claiming their first home win and clean sheet of the season.
