The Nash lost 4-2 with Curzon’s goal scorers being Michael Afuye and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts. The goals for Hyde United came from Ewan Bange, Bradley Holmes and a double from Frankie Sinfield.
Curzon started another game slowly as this time they were punished inside the first 2 minutes. Matthew Fearnley ran onto a ball that was played over the top of The Nash’s defence and he drilled the ball across the box with Ewan Bange tapping it in. 2 minutes later Ewan had another chance but his shot was saved by Joshua Ollerenshaw. Into the 9th minute and Curzon were struggling to get a foothold in the game with Hyde dominating.
Approaching the half-hour mark, Curzon finally had a freekick in Hyde’s half, 2 minute’s later the Nash were level through Michal Afuye. Afuye cut in from the right hand side and whipped a brilliant left footed shot into the top right corner. Instantly after The Nash equalised Hyde had a great chance to go back in front but they failed to capitalise. The 41st minute arrived and Hyde had a massive chance to regain the lead they got the lucky break of the ball as Frankie Sinfield played the ball to Ewan Bange but Mahon made an outstanding block.
The Nash ended the half 1-1 with Curzon dominating since Afuye’s brilliant goal, but Hyde were still in the game.
The second half began with Hyde applying all the early pressure, as the 56th minute mark arrived on loan Frankie Sinfield had the ball just outside of Curzon’s box and his effort just went over the bar.
Shortly after this Hyde went in front through Bradley Holmes. Matthew Fearnley played a ball through The Nash’s defence with Holmes smashing his shot into the right hand side of the net. 7 minutes later Hyde got a third goal through loanee Frankie Sinfield. Sinfield was allowed to cut in from the right hand side and whipped his shot into the bottom left corner.
Curzon were really struggling to get into this game with Hyde completely dominating the game. This was telling as in the 75th minute Sinfield had his second and Hyde’s fourth. Hyde had a dangerous freekick just outside of Curzon’s box with Sinfield stepping up and whipping the ball off the post and in. After this goal Hyde were completely dominating the ball and the 452 people that were in attendance knew that Hyde were in the final. However, in the 88th minute Isaac Buckley-Ricketts grabbed one back for The Nash, Afuye ran down the right hand side and passed the ball to Isaac who tapped it around the defender and slotted the ball into the bottom left corner.
However this proved to be a consolation goal as the game ended 4-2 and Hyde United progressed to the final of the Frank Hannah Manchester FA Premier Cup
Curzon will now look to improve their home league form as they host promotion rivals King’s Lynn Town at the Tameside Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
