Match Report by Sol Finnon
Curzon were winning 2-1 and leading the Northern Vanarama National League table when Saturday’s afternoon fixture was ultimately abandoned mid-game due to rain and weather negatively impacting the pitch.
Curzon opened the scoring against the run of play in the 14th minute when Isaac Sinclair received a lobbed ball over his head and turned a defender before converting in clinical fashion inside the area. Following on from Curzon’s opener, another goal was scored by The Nash, with Will Hayhurst scoring in the 18th minute through an impressive left-footed volley, once again inside the penalty area, after the ball had come down from a deflected cross.
Curzon had found themselves to be 2-0 up and in control, however, a delivery from a Radcliffe free-kick found the head of Radcliffe defender, Bradley Roscoe, who brought Boro back into the game.
An end-to-end first half saw Curzon 2-1 up at the break, with both sides creating a number of chances. Curzon had been threatening from open play on the counter, whilst Radcliffe had threatened from set pieces.
As the conditions worsened, the ball gradually lost its ability to bounce off the pitch surface forcing officials into making the decision to abandon the game at half-time.
