Match Report by Joel Longworth

Goals from the captain Jimmy Spencer and Adam Barton were enough for Curzon to earn a point. 


The Nash started the game brightly as Alex Curran had the first shot of the game with ex Curzon goalkeeper Bobby Jones saving it comfortably. In the 6th minute, The Nash went in front through the captain Jimmy Spencer – Jordan Richards crossed a beautiful ball in on the right hand side as Jimmy connected with it and powered his header home for his second goal of the season. Following the goal Curzon continued to dominate but failed to take any of their opportunities. 

In the 20th minute, Spennymoor’s first chance of the game arrived as their top goalscorer Glen Taylor had a shot from outside the box, however, it went wide of Callum Hawkins’ goal.

25 minutes on the clock and Curzon had a chance to double their lead as Callum Hawkins found Tony Weston from his goal kick with Tony’s shot being saved by Jones. Spennymoor had their to equalise a couple of minutes later as the ball fell to Tom Pugh with his shot going wide. 

With 15 minutes to go until half time Curzon were looking to grab that second goal. IJust after the half an hour mark, Curzon had a corner as Charlie Weston whipped the ball into the box and it fell to Joel Amado with his volley being saved by Bobby Jones and going out for another corner. 

With only 10 minutes of the first half remaining, Spennymoor Town equalised through Ethan Robson. The ball fell to him in the box as he slotted it past Callum Hawkins and into the bottom right corner. With 4 minutes of the first half left to go Chibuike Ezennolim had a chance to put Curzon in front going into the break but his header went wide of the post.

Curzon started the second half as they started the first with them having the first chance of the game as Jordan Richards played the ball into Captain Jimmy Spencer who laid it off to Alex Curran with his shot going wide of the post. 

As the clock ticked up to an hour Spennymoor had two great chances to go in front through Lorey McKeown and Glen Taylor. However, Callum Hawkins pulled off two unbelievable saves to keep the score at 1-1.

As we approached 70 minutes on the clock Mark Bradshaw made a double substitution, as Brad Holmes and Crispin McLean came on for Charlie Weston and Tony Weston.

On the 73rd minute, Spennymoor were awarded a penalty as Adam Barton brought down Glen Taylor inside the box with Adam receiving a yellow card. Glen Taylor smashed the penalty into the bottom left corner giving Spennymoor the lead. 

Following the penalty Mark Bradshaw made two more changes as he brought on Joe Rodwell-Grant and Timi Sobowale for goalscorer Jimmy Spencer and Marcus Poscha. With 10 minutes to go, Curzon were battling for the equaliser.

That equaliser nearly arrived in the 83rd minute as all three substitutes, Crispin McLean, Joe Rodwell-Grant and Brad Holmes combined with Joe Rodwell-Grant’s shot being spilled to Holmes but he could not sort his feet out to slot the ball home.

The 88th minute arrived and The Nash had a corner as Crispin McLean whipped the ball into the box with Adam Barton smashing it in at the near post to score his 3rd goal of the season and to make it 2-2.  

With 5 minutes of added time awarded, Curzon had a massive chance to get the winner as the ball fell to Chi Ezennolim inside the box however he smashed his shot over the bar.

Just before the full time whistle, Mark made his final substitution as he brought on Jack Stobbs for Chi Ezennolim. 

The game ended as The Nash battled for a hard earned point this evening.
