In a short series and build up to the FA Cup, we asked fans, players, staff and directors for their personal memories of the greatest cup competition.

Curzon Ashton Chairman - John Clayton
My first real recollection of the FA Cup was Oldham Athletic v Liverpool 3rd Round 27th Jan 1962, with a crowd of 41,733 packed into Boundary Park, although Oldham lost 2-0 it was a great occasion
Liverpool were managed by the late great Bill Shankly and both goals scored by Ian St John, Liverpool also had Ron Yeats, Roger Hunt and Tommy Lawrence. Oldham manager was Jack Rowley and my favourite players were Bert Lister, Jonny Colquhoun and Bobby Johnstone. At one point the game was stopped as a barrier in the Chaddy End collapsed and people were passed over peoples heads onto the pitch for treatment, great times, I was only just 12 years old but can remember it like yesterday.
