The 34 year old defender joins The Nash from AFC Fylde.
Stokes began his football journey at the age of 14 when he joined Bolton Wanderers, after spending 5 years at the club rising through the youth ranks with a brief loan spell at Crewe Alexandra, Chris gained his first permanent move to Forest Green Rovers where he went on to make over 140 appearances throughout his time at the club..
In February 2015 he left Forest Green Rovers to join Coventry on loan before making the move permanent that summer, during his three years at the midlands based club he made over 80 appearances, helped the club win the EFL Trophy (Checkatrade) – their first trophy in 30 years and secure promotion back to League One, beating Exeter in the play-off final at Wembley.
After leaving Coventry he spent a season at Gigg Lane, with local club Bury. A regular in the team Stokes made over 40 appearances, with the team winning promotion to League One before their ultimate demise at the end of the 2019 season.
A season at Stevenage and another spell at Forrest Green Rovers followed before a move North to join Scottish side, Kilmarnock. Joining the club in 2021 he played a part in the club’s success and their promotion back to the SPFL following the club’s relegation the previous season. After two season’s at the club he moved back to England to join The Shrimps.
Following his departure from Morecambe in 2024, Stokes went on to make appearances for AFC Barrow & was most recently at National League side AFC Fylde before signing for The Nash for the 2025 season
