Marcus is an athletic and physical striker who is exciting to watch both in and out of possession. He thrives on playing on the shoulder of defenders and possesses a variety of finishes in front of goal.
Originally from Cameroon, Marcus moved to Stockport after turning down multiple other clubs, drawn by the promising pathway the club can provide him. The Cameroonian international and first-year academy scholar finished as the top scorer in the U21 Premier League Cup group stage, netting six goals and providing two assists while averaging a goal every 57 minutes.
Academy Manager Damien Allen shared his thoughts on Marcus:
“We are really pleased with how Marcus has performed in the U21 Premier League Cup. As well as scoring and creating goals, he has pressed with the intensity expected. He has excellent physical attributes and does not give the opponent any opportunity to relax in the game.
It’s promising to see that he has finished as the group stage’s top goalscorer. At just 17 years old, he is still two to three years younger than the other forward players in the top-scorers list. He will face further challenges this season playing senior football out on loan. There is a lot of work still to be done to reach his potential, and we are all excited to continue working with him to help achieve this.”
Welcome to Curzon Ashton, Marcus!
