HISTORY MADE!

On a day when it looked like the team were going to need to book a day off work for a replay, the new man in blue, Luis Lacey, won it for The Nash late on for a deserved victory for Curzon Ashton, who make it to the 1st round proper of the FA Cup for the third year in a row.

It was the favoured starting 11 for The Nash, with Isaac Sinclair back in replacing Ben Darby in the only change from the previous league game at Buxton a week ago.
In a game of few clear chances, Kings Lynn set up to frustrate The Nash with the majority of the 11 behind the ball, making sure Curzon would need to create the perfect opportunity if they were to win.

The ball in the first half spent a lot of the time being spread from side to side, Curzon creating a few crossing opportunities, but it was the Linnets who should have taken the lead around the half an hour mark. After a mix up at the back between Isaac Sinclair and Bobby Jones, the ball fell to Williams, but he put the effort wide with the goal open from 30 yards out.
Half time 0-0.

The second half continued to follow a similar format. Curzon in control but always wary of the Kings Lynn break. However, Curzon appear to have now found that next level, with strength in depth. Buckley-Ricketts left the field to be replaced by Mike Afuye whose direct nature of play won a number of dangerous free kicks but nothing could quite create that clear opportunity. However it was the new man Luis Lacey (on for Stefan Mols) who found himself with little time at the back post after a cross from the right on 88’ to smash home past the keeper and send the home fans into incredible celebrations.

As would be expected, Kings Lynn made changes and went long, but it was the Nash who played out time to the final whistle with more celebrations on the pitch at full time.

We now await until Monday when destiny awaits to see who wants to challenge the mighty Nash…!
