Update:

James Wightman – After joining Mark Bradshaw’s backroom staff at the beginning of the season, James Wightman has stepped down from his role due to personal/time commitments.

Speaking on his time with the team, James said:

‘Due to increasing work commitments I have decided to step back from the Curzon First Team staff. I would like to thank everyone at Curzon for giving me this opportunity. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the players and staff and am excited to see them fulfil their potential.’

Taking his place is Reserves Team Manager, Rory Shadbolt, Rory has been part of Mark Bradshaw’s backroom staff from the beginning of the season, however, due to his role with the Reserves Team hasn’t been present on a matchday.

Speaking on the opportunity Rory said:

‘I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved so far with the Reserves Team, and I’m delighted that Paul will be stepping up to continue the great work. He’s a fantastic coach, but more importantly, a top person and a great friend. I wish him all the very best in the role.

On a personal note, I’m proud to be joining the First Team as First Team Coach. It’s a real privilege, and I’m very grateful to Mark for his trust and confidence in me.’

Making the step into Management is Paul Cocks who will be taking over the role as Reserves Team Manager to replace  Rory Shadbolt.

Paul joined Rory as his number two at the beginning of the season and will now be taking the reigns, hoping to continue and build on the foundations that see the Reserves Team sitting 4th in the table in their inaugural year.

Commenting on his new role, Paul said:

‘This club has always meant a lot to me. I’ve had some brilliant memories here over the years, and it’s a place that’s played a big part in my football journey. To have the opportunity to manage the Reserve Team and be given that trust means a lot on a personal level.

Curzon Ashton is a special club, built on hard work, honesty, and togetherness. It’s a club full of good people who care deeply, both on and off the pitch. I know what this place represents to the supporters and the local community, and I want to make sure we build something they can all be proud of.

My focus now is on getting to work with the players and staff all pulling in the same direction and doing everything we can to keep developing players and supporting the 1st team.

I can’t wait to get started.’
